What QGenda is
QGenda is a healthcare workforce management platform owned by Hearst since September 2024. It includes physician scheduling within a broader workforce-management offering.
QGenda acquired Shift Admin in 2021 and Tangier in 2017. For groups that used Tangier, include that history when discussing the current product and transition path with QGenda; a familiar product name is not a substitute for checking the workflow offered today.
Visit QGendaHow CAIER is different
CAIER™ builds every draft schedule toward one published score: the Circadian Alignment Index (CAI™). It measures night clustering, rotation direction, recovery time, and how evenly that load is shared. Coverage and your department’s rules still matter; the score gives the team a common way to examine circadian alignment alongside those requirements.
The engine builds the draft, and your scheduler or director reviews and publishes it. Physicians use the app for requests, swaps, calendar sync, and mobile access. That keeps the people who know the department involved in both the initial schedule and the changes that follow. A score supports a discussion; it does not replace clinical judgment or make staffing decisions for you.
CAI is being tested openly at research.caier.ai. The research is an opportunity to examine the score against real scheduling judgments, not a claim that it is validated, proven, or a guarantee of a particular health outcome. Compare how each candidate tool handles your actual rotations, rather than treating any one number as the entire decision.
Explore open CAI researchWhen QGenda is the better fit
QGenda may be the better fit when your organization is selecting an enterprise-wide workforce suite rather than a department-focused scheduling workflow. Assess requirements that span scheduling, credentialing, and administrative coordination with the vendor.
An existing system-wide implementation can also be a reason to stay. Ask how your emergency medicine department fits into the larger organization’s processes and whether a change would improve the work your scheduler actually does.
Pricing
QGenda does not publish pricing; costs are quoted individually.
CAIER publishes its prices. Plans have a monthly practice-group fee, with optional add-ons; check the current pricing for your department’s requirements.
Switching without a full cutover
CAIER imports existing schedules from Excel. Start with a month your team already understands, reconcile the imported assignments, and review the schedule before changing any day-to-day process. That gives your director and scheduler a concrete starting point for discussing night clustering, recovery, and distribution.
Keep the current system as your department’s source of truth while you evaluate. Agree who will review the draft, how physicians will submit requests, and when a published schedule becomes authoritative. A parallel review can help separate the scheduling decision from the operational work of moving calendars and communication. Do not assume that an Excel file creates a direct integration with another vendor.
Analyze an existing scheduleCommon questions
How does QGenda pricing compare to CAIER?
QGenda does not publish pricing; costs are quoted individually. CAIER publishes its prices. Plans have a monthly practice-group fee, with optional add-ons; check the current pricing for your department’s requirements. Current CAIER pricing is at https://er.caier.ai/tier-calculator. Compare the scope and terms for your own department; this page does not estimate another vendor’s bill.
Is CAIER a replacement for every QGenda workflow?
No. Compare the scheduling workflow your department needs with the broader systems your organization uses. CAIER focuses on circadian-aware schedule building and physician team tools; do not assume it replaces every enterprise integration or administrative service.
Can we start with an existing Excel schedule?
Yes. CAIER imports existing schedules from Excel. Review and reconcile the imported assignments before relying on them, and keep your current process in place while evaluating the workflow.
Is the Circadian Alignment Index clinically validated?
No such claim is made here. CAI™ is being tested through open research. It measures night clustering, rotation direction, recovery time, and the distribution of that load; your team still reviews and publishes the schedule.
